Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 10, 2026

1. Overview

Remindy is built on a simple belief: your data exists to serve you, not us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

We will never sell your personal information. We collect only what is necessary to deliver the Service and improve your experience.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Phone number — required for account verification and SMS delivery.
  • Reminder content — task titles, descriptions, people, events, and dates you create.
  • Preferences — quiet hours, reminder intensity, and messaging opt-in/opt-out choices.
  • SMS messages — inbound messages you send to Remindy and outbound messages we send to you, stored to maintain conversation context and resolve ambiguity.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, timestamps, and general interaction patterns on the website.
  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and screen size for compatibility.
  • SMS delivery metadata — message status (sent, delivered, failed), carrier error codes, and timestamps from our messaging provider.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver reminders and manage your tasks via SMS and the web interface.
  • Understand your intent from natural language messages and respond accurately.
  • Enforce your preferences, including quiet hours, snooze windows, and opt-out requests.
  • Maintain consent records to comply with messaging regulations.
  • Improve the Service’s reliability, accuracy, and usefulness.
  • Send service-related communications (account verification, policy changes).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering and improving Remindy.

4. SMS and Messaging Privacy

SMS is central to how Remindy works. Here is how we handle messaging data:

  • Messages are transmitted through Twilio, our SMS provider. Twilio processes messages in accordance with their own privacy policy.
  • We store message content to maintain conversation context, link replies to the correct task, and provide message history.
  • Consent events (opt-in, opt-out) are logged with timestamps, source, and evidence for regulatory compliance.
  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP. We will immediately stop sending messages and record your preference.

5. Data Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — Twilio (SMS delivery), cloud infrastructure providers (hosting and database). These providers process data only as needed to operate the Service.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of Remindy, our users, or the public.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Ever.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes (such as consent evidence records).

SMS message logs are retained for the duration of your account to support conversation context and dispute resolution. Consent event records may be retained longer as required for regulatory compliance.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Encrypted database storage.
  • Webhook signature validation for all inbound messaging callbacks.
  • Access controls limiting who within our organization can view user data.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information in your account.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of SMS messaging at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, reply HELP to any Remindy message or contact us through our website.

9. Children's Privacy

Remindy is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices evolve or as required by law. When we make material changes, we will notify you via SMS or through the Service before the changes take effect.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of Remindy after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
